February 2009: The U.S. Congress passed a $787 billion economic stimulus package on February 13th and President Obama signed the bill into law on Feb. 17th. This new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 contains tax incentives for business to invest in new equipment. More info on the literature found on this page.

November 2008: It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of someone in our IMA Nova family. Michael DeCrescenzo died unexpectedly on November 2nd of a heart attack. Mike was one of our Technical Specialists and previous to that, held the position of Service Manager. He was well loved by both his co-workers and his customers and will be sorely missed.

July 2008: IMA North America and IMA Nova® are excited to announce the restructuring and rebranding of their Sales and Service group. The new group, called IMA Safe, now has a dedicated team focusing on Packaging Solutions for the North American market. The sales group, many of whom have decades of packaging experience within IMA and Nova, are now handling a wider range of products including Blister Packaging, Tablet Counting, Cartoning, End of Line equipment and Tube Filling machines. October 2007: Kevin Walsh has returned to IMA Nova® to head up the Production and Service departments.  Walsh had previously been the Service Manager for nearly ten years with the company, as well as handling technical sales for their Swiftpack, Lakso®, Merrill®, Kalish and King brands of packaging equipment.In his new capacity as Production and Service Manager, Walsh will be managing a highly experienced team of service and assembly technicians, based in Leominster, Massachusetts.

August 2007: IMA Nova® has unveiled a new interlocked guarding option available for our Lakso® cottoning machines. An interlocked Lexan frame completely encloses the cottoner to ensure total operator safety. The touchscreen control panel and stainless steel reject bin are located on the exterior of the guarding for ease of accessibility. Designed with multiple doors, the guarding provides complete access to all areas of the cottoning machine for set-up and cleaning. Opening of the doors while the machine is running, will signal an alarm on the touchscreen and stop the cottoner.

April 2007: Due to extreme demand in the marketplace, IMA Nova® has committed to extending full support on its popular MicroScan® I tablet detection system. Recognizing that the original model of this technology has proven to be reliable and continues to be in use on hundreds of Lakso® tablet counters throughout the world, IMA Nova® is moving forward to ensure that parts and technical drawings are kept readily available.
IMA Nova® prides itself on having the most advanced technical service group specially trained on slat and electronic tablet counting technology. Our service technicians, who are also PMMI certified trainers, have an in-depth knowledge and expertise on both the MicroScan® I and the newest MicroScan® III version.
MicroScan® I is a high speed, empty cavity detection system that uses infrared light and advanced solid-state electronics, to detect that a tablet is present while moving through a slat. When an empty cavity is detected, the bottle with a short-count is tracked and rejected by the machine.

March 2007: New economical Lakso® Cottoning Machine now available. IMA Nova® has launched the newest addition to their Lakso® line of cottoners, the Lakso® Model 100. This single head machine is designed to cut, fold and insert a measured length of cotton, rayon or polyester into bottles at speeds up to 100bpm. Using the inverted “U” method of insertion, the Lakso® Model 100 also has multiple cotton insertion capability. Manufacturing cottoners since 1952, the Lakso® Model 100 joins the higher speed models Lakso® 150 capable of speeds up to 150bpm and Lakso® 300 for speeds up to 300bpm.


February 2007: Bill Finnigan named Product Manager for the Swiftpack brand of Electronic Tablet Counters by IMA Swiftpack. Bill brings extensive technical expertise and over 32 years of engineering experience in the pharmaceutical packaging machinery industry, including 15 years working directly with Swiftpack equipment. Previously Service Manager for Kalish in Montreal, and most recently Senior Field Engineer for Systech International, Bill will support the sales, service and production teams for Swiftpack equipment throughout the U.S. and Canada. During Bill's tenure at Kalish, he was a key contributor in establishing Swiftpack as the industry leader in electronic tablet and capsule counters for the pharmaceutical industry. Bill's exceptional track record in the industry and his dedication to exceeding customer expectations will provide existing and future customers with an unparalleled level of support.
